City of God: 10 Years Later (Gone May 6)
The 2002 Brazilian drama City of God is an all-time cult classic, a brutal crime thriller starring real residents of Rio’s notorious favelas. This documentary revisits the stars of the movie a decade later, showing how it affected their lives and the community it documented.
Sherlock: Series 1-4 (Gone May 14)
The BBC’s modern take on Arthur Conan Doyle’s legendary detective was uneven, but the highs —including Benedict Cumberbatch’s prickly, quirky performance in the lead—made Sherlock must-see TV for a while.
The Blair Witch Project (Gone May 31)
Kicking off a whole genre is quite an accomplishment, and 1999’s The Blair Witch Project was a mind-blower when it first hit theaters. Twenty-plus years later, it still holds up. It’s elliptical and unsatisfying in a way that seems legitimate, with good performances and a surprisingly terrifying climax.
